Mowi hits the big screen as main sponsor of Campbeltown Picture House

Mowi has become the main sponsor of Campbeltown Picture House, securing the future of the historic cinema for the next three years.
The 112-year-old Campbeltown Picture House is the UK’s only surviving atmospheric-style cinema and the oldest continuously-operating, purpose-built cinema in Scotland. Following refurbishment in 2017, the cinema’s main auditorium was restored and a second screen was added, along with a new foyer area and café, and spaces for exhibitions, meetings and community activities.
Officially beginning on 1st June, the three-year sponsorship deal will enable the cinema’s management team to increase the variety of programming and keep this important community asset in operation. The sponsorship comes at a crucial time as cinemas across Argyll have come under threat, with some forced to close their doors, due to increased financial pressures including crippling utility price increases.
Cinemagoers will now see promotional videos from Mowi before screenings and Mowi staff will also receive a small discount during certain months of the year.
Signing the deal last month, Mowi Scotland’s community engagement officer Jayne MacKay, technical director Dougie Hunter, and digital content creator James Sibley met with the cinema’s manager, Ellen Mainwood, as well as Sid Gallagher and Jenny McFarlane, members of the board of Campbeltown Community Business, which owns the cinema.
“The sponsorship from Mowi has come at a perfect time and is a huge boost to the picture house,” said Ellen. “We’re delighted to be working with them to continue bringing the latest films to Campbeltown.”
Jayne added: “We recognise how important a picture house is to a community and we are delighted to be part of this deal, as we, too, are part of this community, and it is such a great place for our team and their families to come along to.”
