Safe and meaningful work

The people in Mowi are essential to our success. Having the right people on board, with the right skills, mindset and competencies throughout our company is an important factor for continuous growth and development.

Our success depends on our people.

Our goal is to attract and retain talent from current and future generations, driven by our commitment to provide healthy, delicious and sustainable food to a growing population. All Mowi employees have an impact on the Blue Revolution as we strive to provide secure, meaningful and engaging career opportunities.

We foster an inclusive work environment that values everyone’s input and encourages collaboration across functions and locations.

Our ongoing efforts are focused on building an engaged, diverse workforce committed to long-term success within the company.

Our efforts

Human Rights

We believe that companies can only thrive in societies where human rights are protected and respected. We want to contribute to positive impacts on human rights in the company, in our supply chain, among our stakeholders and in the world. This is done in close collaboration with our vision Leading the Blue Revolution, our sustainability plan, our code of conduct and business strategy.

Mowi’s commitment to human rights is based on internationally recognized human rights principles, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations Global Compact, the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the International Labor Organization’s Core Conventions.

Fair employment

We are committed to fair working conditions and employment practices. Our commitment is reflected in our Code of Conduct, in our global policies such as human rights and diversity & inclusion, in our ONE Mowi operating procedures, and in our values and leadership principles that guide us in our work every day.

Fair compensation

We continue to prioritize fair and transparent compensation. Our goal is to provide competitive compensation that is still in line with the local market and industry. No worker is paid less than the official national living wage for that location. We use a global job architecture system to ensure transparent processes with objective criteria for determining compensation and benefits. We also regularly survey gender pay. Our analysis generally shows no significant difference in pay between men and women.

Freedom of association

Mowi respects, recognizes and supports our employees’ freedom of association and the right to participate in collective bargaining. Employees are free from retaliation due to union membership or involvement. Mowi is committed to constructive dialogue and cooperation with unions and employee representatives.

Employee health and safety

Our goal is zero injuries in the workplace. Health and safety is the foundation of everything we do, and we will never compromise on safety in favor of another company priority. Our long-term goal is to develop a strong safety culture. This is done through systematic and structured safety programs and developing a high level of awareness and safety mentality.

Our safety program BrainSafe

Our global safety program BrainSafe is a behavior-based safety process designed to empower employees, hired staff and contractors to take control of their own safety and increase safety awareness. Our goal is for safety to be the top priority for all of our employees so that we can all go home safely at the end of the day.

Mowi operates using a systematic approach to hazard and risk management, including hazard identification, potential risk analysis and risk reduction strategies according to the hierarchy of control measures, beginning with elimination, replacement, engineering controls, administrative controls and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Whenever possible, preventive measures are taken to counter these risks, in accordance with our safety principles and with local laws and regulations governing preventive work on health and safety.

In addition, all of Mowi’s Business Units are required to have, and have established, safety committees. The committees include both management and employees, as well as trade unions where they are represented. All Business Units have special safety representatives who are responsible for safety at all Business Unit locations and sites.
